A painting for the CADE Clinic

I thought I couldn’t paint any more. I thought it had come and gone with the mania and medication of my bipolar. I hadn’t painted anything for five years.

Then I ran into Professor Gin Malhi, who launched my bipolar book last year. He challenged my belief that my painting skills had gone, so I recklessly offered to paint something for his CADE Clinic at the Royal North Shore. I started in January this year and on Monday I finished one large painting and two mixed media pieces. I took them into the CADE Clinic yesterday and gave them to him.

    Well done and congratulations

My name is Kerri-Anne Mines and I met u last year at wayside chapel with the mental health forum, when u were getting your art work ready for the publication of your book…what a world wind couple of years u have had.

I have lived in dubbo for 40 years and flew down for the forum opening. It was so great to see my painting on the wall.
I was wondering if you could recommend a art therapy class/ss/course

Love and best wishes to u and your family

    Hi Kerri-Anne,
It is SO good to hear from you. The Wayside Chapel exhibition was wonderful and the thrill of seeing my artwork on the wall was amazing too. It is funny that you ask about art courses because tomorrow I am going to book into a course in Sept/Oct. It is in Qld, in the hinterland behind the Sunshine Coast. It is not art therapy, it is just a regular 4 day workshop. It won’t be cheap with airfares, accommodation and car rental, but I have been saving up. I have done some classes with this tutor before and I really like her style (abstract landscapes). It may not be your thing at all, but you can check it out at http://www.kenilwortharts.org.au/workshops14/workshops2014container.htm or just google Kenilworth art workshops 2014. The tutor’s name is Pam Black.
I hope that you are well and life is good.Keep in touch and let me know if you find any good art courses too.
Love and best wishes to your family too
    Anne
